Introduction.
These forums have been set up for hobbyists to enjoy, interact and educate.
This site was founded February 25, 2002 and has grown to the impressive community that you see here today.
We are now averaging over 75 posts and 4900 page views per day, with over 1750 members.
It has been noted that no matter what time of the day you visit there is always someone else here. Some of our regulars even have an ongoing competition to see who can be online when the most amount of members are logged in at once.
These forums are free and easy to use.
We have made them virtually ad free with the exception of a few of our own ads and some sponsors ads.
We try not to over moderate or police the forums.
We believe that public forums should remain just that.
We have increased the number of forums and added a live chat room.
Our forums have a dedicated team of moderators and they are more than willing to assist you.

Registration.
You will need to register to post on these forums.
Forum registration is with Ezboard not with Boronia Aquarium.
If you have a Global Ezboard account you will not have to re-register here. If you register a Global Ezboard account here, you will be able to access other Ezboard forums.

General Terms of Use
1. Please be nice:
This may sound simple, but sadly, offensive behavior is commonplace on the Internet. Some arises through misinterpretation of the written word (please use emoticons if required), while in other cases such behavior is intentional. The administrators and moderators of the Boronia Interactive Forum will not accept offensive behavior of any kind - and any such posts will be deleted without warning. This forum has G-Rating "Family Friendly" - so keep your language clean.
Basically:
If you would not say/show it in front of your kids or mother, don’t say/show it in here.
2. Trolls & Flamers:
Don't fall for "trolls" (these are people who are offensive on purpose {also called flamers}) Instead of replying, contact a moderator or administrator and ask that the offensive post be removed. Don't join in - that is what these people are after!!
3. Bumping:
Bumping is moving a post to the top of the forum - without adding relevant information. Bumping will be permitted on classified posts once every 5 days per post. Over bumping will be monitored.
*Over bumped posts will be locked for 5 days.
4. Profiles:
In the My control center area at the top of the page, you can edit your profile.
Your profile can be used to describe yourself so that other members can get to know you a little better. There is also a private mailbox in there so that you can PM each other without having to give out your email address.
Members that set up their profile will be trusted more when it comes to classifieds.
5. Negative comments:
Please refrain for naming businesses or products for negative feedback. Recent evidence suggests that this is a potentially libelous action and should be avoided at all costs. If you do have such a problem then the first thing you should do is attempt to resolve the matter with the shop in question. If still unsatisfied with the outcome, you have a number of options available to you, such as contacting the RSPCA for animal abuse concerns, the Department of Fair Trading for issues such as the honoring of warranties, poor quality equipment etc, and even the police for matters such as verbal or physical abuse that may occur within shop.
6. Research:
Please do a little research before you post. Check www.google.com and some reference books if you have them or search older posts on this website.
7. Signature, Avatar & Pictures:
Administrators and moderators will be removing non-compliant signature/avatar/pictures etc... without notice.
Remember this is a G-Rated website.
Remember to make all signature/avatar/pictures etc... non-commercial.
8. Shouting:
Please don’t SHOUT (i.e.: using ALL CAPS).
This is deemed offensive by some people and comes across as rude.
9. Text or txt:
Please take your time to write your post correctly. "Posts wot hav b33n rite'n like dis 1" – are annoying and may be edited.
10. Headings:
Use sensible subject headings - avoid all caps or the addition of ~--* superfluous *--~ characters.
11. Images:
Please keep posted images small (under 640x480). Not everyone views the page at 1024x768 or greater. Remember that any individual image over 500k is getting a bit ridiculous. Most pictures look fine on the net if they are around 50kb in size.
12. Bandwidth & Copyright:
Respect the fact that people pay for bandwidth - do not post any image on the forums without the permission of the owner. It is illegal to steal bandwidth. This also applies to personal avatars and signatures.
13. Animal cruelty:
Please Note! We discourage this practice and will remove posts which indicate its implementation without notice.
14. Banned topics:
We ask that you refrain from the selling or promoting of the following:
Hybrid Fish like the Parrot Cichlid, Ink Coloured and or Dyed Fish and basically any other act of Cruelty to fish.
Discussions are accepted but posts promoting them or selling them are not.
15. Links: UPDATED - 15/02/2006
It is permissible to Link to non-commercial 3rd party sites.
Linking to commercial sites will be tolerated in limited amounts, however administrator discretion applies to the posting of all links. The administrators and moderators retain the right to remove any link from posts without notice.
Linking to 3rd party "Join-To-View" websites will be permitted only if the link is accompanied by a note saying: “Note: This website is a Join-To-View website.”
16. Mentioning other retailers:
When mentioning other retail stores on this forum we ask that:
*It must be in a positive manner. No negative comments will be allowed.
*No prices are to be mentioned.
*No direct links to a retailers website.
17. Warning system:
A warning system now in place.
Moderators have now been given the power to use our new warning system.
If members get out of line and don’t follow these guidelines for the forum they will have a mark '*' put under their name.
The mark will show up on all future posts made by them on this forum.
Three marks is your limit:
Once you have passed three marks you will be banned from these forums.
Bans will be anywhere from a week or two to a lifetime ban depending on the nature of your activities on these forums.
Forum moderators will keep a record of all marks and bans.
Marks can be worked off by showing good behavior on the forums.
17.01 Self appointed moderators:
Although we welcome and encourage members informing us of forum misuse and troublemakers, please leave the running and moderating the forums to the moderators and admin.
If there is need for action to be taken you can leave a message in the appropriate forums at the bottom of the main page or send one of us a PM.
No action should be taken by members in public view.
Serial pests will be removed from the forums without warning.

Our Administrators and Moderators are volunteers and that they dedicate their time free of charge.
Their aim is to keep these forums friendly and free from trouble.
