GUIDELINES FOR ADVERTISING ON THIS
FORUM
You Must Read this before posting an ad.

1. Banned topics for ads:
We discourage any ads with Hybrids and artificially modified fish. Boronia Aquarium Pty Ltd chooses not to sell these fish and we don’t want them offered for sale on our website either.
2a. Private ads only:
There is to be NO COMMERCIAL ADS on this site without the Written Consent Of Boronia Aquarium Pty Ltd. This site is for private ads for hobbyists and Non-Profit aquarium related clubs only.
2b. New ads only:
No links to ads on other forums or websites.
Please re-type your ad here.
2c. Security:
We reserve the right to temporally or permanently remove any ad selling large value items or large quantities of fish or goods that may be either a security risk to our members or that may be in breach of our non commercial guidelines.
Members placing such ads may be asked to verify their ad to the Moderator Team before the ad is allowed to continue.
3. Topic headings:
As there are now two classifieds forums.
*One for: For Sale “FS”
*One for: Wanting To Buy “WTB”
It is not necessary to add FS or WTB to the subject heading. However you should still add Free for free offers and EOI for Expressions of interest.
Please remember to post your ads in the correct forum.
Expression of interest “EOI” ads can be placed in either forum
Moderators will move ads to the correct forum if misplaced. No link or shadow topic will be displayed when posts are moved.
4. Names:
When possible please use full scientific names in subject lines. Just using the species part of the name isn't all that helpful, for example "FS: elongatus" could mean you have Pseudotropheus elongatus, Hemichromis elongatus, Lepidiolamprologus elongatus or Tylochromis elongatus for sale –
So Please use the full name if you know it.
5. Location:
Please remember to always include your location either in your profile or your ad. Your location must include your suburb and state. Melbourne VIC is not good enough if you live in Richmond. We would like you to include Richmond VIC. If you genuinely live in the CBD then you would show Melbourne CBD VIC as your location
6. Phone numbers:
Do not include your home phone number or address in your ads. Use PM’s or email to swap numbers and addresses. Use email, PM’s and mobile numbers only in your ad.
7. Off Topic Chat:
Don’t ad comments or replies that are not related to you wanting to purchase the goods on offer. Mods may remove posts which we believe are not genuine or not related to the topic of the thread.
If you want to post anything about a thread here please do it in a general discussion in the relevant forum.
8. Wheeling and dealing:
Buying fish from one breeder and selling them the next day on the same forum isn't going to win you friends, while we don't intend to bar this practice entirely - Wheel and Deal at your own risk. Don't be that surprised when no-one will sell livestock to you.
9. Sellers discretion:
Please be aware that Boronia Aquarium PTY LTD and its Moderators have no control over sellers discretion and they retain the sole right to sell to whomever they wish, but please remember to be considerate to your fellow forum members.
10. Play Nice:
See guidelines in general forums:
If you are rude, disputatious, calumnious, racist, sexist, JPD (just plain dumb) or otherwise pigheaded to other users, your post will be deleted and in serious cases you could earn yourself a temporary (or if you try extra hard) a permanent ban.
11. Haggling:
Sellers please state what you want for the livestock or product. If someone says "I'll give you a dollar" don't be offended, ignore them.
12. Reporting Trouble:
Please inform the Mods if you have problems with a user. While we cannot always take action with just one complaint we will certainly never ignore you.
13. Bumping posts & Editing Posts
Bumping is moving a post to the top of the forum - without adding relevant information. Bumping will be permitted on classified posts once every 5 days per post.
Over bumping will be monitored.
*Over bumped posts will be locked for 5 days.
If bumping - Please include:
*Bumped- Due to ad being 5 days old… so the mods can easily see why the post was bumped.
Editing a post will bump it.
Please include:
*edit- price reduction and date* etc… so the mods can easily see why the post was edited.
14. Multi Posting:
Multi posting is again allowed. However please do not abuse this.
Only place one ad for each item you are selling or wishing to purchase.
Where possible please list a few items in one add rather than placing multiple ads in the one forum.
*Please keep posts to a maximum of 2 or 3 per forum. More than 3 active could be deemed spamming.
15. Auctions:
No Auctions are to take place without permission from Boronia Aquarium Pty Ltd or a Senior Administrator.
16. Pictures:
If you provide a picture of the fish you are selling and it is not the actual fish for sale, please say so. If you show a picture from someone else’s site, you need to get permission to use it from the owner. Any pictures that are hotlinked from other sites (ie posted directly into the post and not as a link) will mean the post may be removed. Some people actually pay for uploads
17. Guarantees and warrantees:
Goods purchased on this forum are purchased at your own risk.
Boronia Aquarium Pty Ltd offers no Warrantee or Guarantee on any products purchased from any third party.
Please do your homework before making a purchase. Know your state or territories import and export rules and your state or territories wildlife and fauna regulations. As a purchaser you are responsible for your own actions.
Warning:
If an ad seems too good to be true – It probably is.
Boronia Aquarium advises against transferring large amounts of money without knowing who you are dealing with. Always try to get references from previous purchases or try to set a meeting point to hand over the money when you receive the goods.
Please note:
There are two sides to the forums. There is the side that you see and use, it’s clean and works well. Its also very private, people can hide behind their member name and keep to themselves. There is also the admin side of the forums.
We can see who is who, we can see your IP address and we can find your ISP, we can ban anyone at anytime.
If you misbehave, we will lock you out of the forums and contact your ISP.
ISP’s will disconnect you from the Internet if you have complaints against you.
