Hi
Yes, my RIO 200. Cleaning it can be a nightmare. Once you switch it off, all the "muck" gets back into the tank. LFS said I should put a plastic bag around the cage, to catch all the detrious. Yuk. Anyway, I am not to keen on inside filters. Eheim's or otherwise. Too much stress for the fish. By cleaning them, I mean. John |

I have two eheim 2213's. One purchased brand new 2
years ago and the other second hand and is about 4 years
old.
I've had no prob's with the new one but the shaft in the second hand one has broken. I have worked out that you can just place a shaft of same size and diameter instead of buying the whole impeller. It's plastic though so it needs to be replaced every six months but the packet cost $3 and will make heaps so i'm not complaining. Apart from that they are a great filter and the cleaning of them is quite easy. DB |

Hi Discusboy
The Sacem can be had at a very cheap price though. The Eheim's have their quality behind them, AT A PRICE. Some of the ordinary filters, have a pricetag which is NOT for mortals. I cartainly have to go by price. But if I want quality and haven't got the money, I'll wait. Because in reality, you only get what you pay for. John |

John,
I agree with you... You do infact get what you pay for... As for me I only use cheap sponge or corner filters, as that's all I need for my tanks, I don't really have a display tank to have to worry about, so I just get away with these... And I do agree if you don't have the money, yet you want the best for your fish, wait until you do, and get a good quality product.... Amy |

Hi
Yes, I agree with Frisckey1. The Bio-wheels are out of this world. Does everything the Eheims do, plus more. The cleaning is a breeze. John |

I use Via Aqua 650 and love it, a tough but cheap
unit. I am even thinking of buying a Via Aqua 750 for my
next tank setup.
I used to use an internal Sacem gemini 800L/hr, but was not impressed at all — poor fit between pump head and filter, it caused the whole tank to vibrate and was noisy. Now it serves as a backup if my Via Aqua lets me down, as I was able to connect a 1/2 inch 16mm tail plastic connector to it so I can run the Via aqua with it. Also I have a Nisso seapalace hang-on filter. Ugly but easy to clean and swap media around. It currently gets used to filter the water with activated characoal when needed. |

I have 2 6x18x18 which i use 2 fluvals in each 1 is
a 404 and the other is the 304 needless to say i have no
problems with the quality of the water and cleaning is a
breeze no spills and no mess i also have 2 2x1x1 which i
only use el-cheapo stuff on and have to maintain
regularly but its a small job I have to say though i only
got the fluvals because they were at the right
price.

my filtration is all eheim. mostly eheim canisters
and a couple of homemade trickle filters run by eheim
pumps. eheim prices need to come down!

Hi
Yes Shaun, the prices are a bit steep. But usually quality and high price go hand in hand. BTW I only had a "classic" 30 years ago. Hoses were half the size they are now, cleaning and priming was a nightmare. But once they ran, they kept on running. John |

I have had various filters, the best to date are
penguin bio-wheels.
But the best to date is resun internal filter. I currently have 5 diffrent filter types, and it depends on what fish/tank I have setup as to which filter/s I use. |

I come from the "you get what you pay
for" camp... The pump under "The Big
One" is an Eheim 1262... and in the past my
filters have been either Eheim or undergravel/powerhead
setups.... Dunno what's powering my 4 footer, there's no
label on it! But it's doing ok.

Hi
I have a Eheim 2213 and an old Fluval 303 that I bought secondhand. Have not had a problem with either. Happy with both and would not choose one over the other. |

Eheim 2013 - not set up yet. (Will this
weekend.)
Fluval 3 (I think) - Just died after 4 years of service... And I got it second hand. Hydor Ekip 350 - Heater died in it, but it works brilliantly apart from this. Shark 2 - Works great. Homemade trickle filter - No issues so far. Been running 3-4 months. Homemade pond filter - Converted levels of ammonia greater than 6.1 to 0 in about a week. I'm super impressed. Glad my plan worked! ----
