just wondering if I could get some differing opinions on what is best to do when breeding BN. I have a few dedicated catfish tanks, I have commons in one 4x18x18, about 3 males and 7 females at the moment.
I have another 4x18x18 with albinos, about 6 males and 13 females, there are 7 caves and decent distance between them.
I also have some 1.5foot cubes tanks with a couple of breeding trios in each.
I was wondering if I should partition the 4x18 tanks and put a couple of trios into each or leave as is, they have laid a few times so far.
I was also wondering what people experiences have been with fry. I have 'stolen' the eggs a few times and put them into tumblers then fry savers. Was wondering if it's better to keep them until they hatch for a few days then transfer them into the frysaver or if it's also ok to let the fry escape into the tank and grow a little, or a lot, before moving them/selling them etc? In the smaller tanks they can't get through into the filter but they could potentially get into the drop filters in the 4x18s.
Also what is the best method to ensure best survival rates with fry, I seem to have many die off in the fry savers. (The fry savers are in the same tank, am also thinking of dedicating a couple of the smaller tanks for fry only).
Opinions, experiences, feedback etc would be great. I will continue 'experimenting' to see what's best on my own in the meantime.
