Generally if there is a dominant male in the same tank, other males will take on female colouraation but will continue to show egg spots.

i no that, it is just i was looking at some fish today and the owner was trying to assure me it was a mixture of male and female but every fish had egg spots
leading me to think all were male but wanted to post this to see if i was right or wrong???

Yes, as far as I'm aware it's possible - at least with some species - but you've not mentioned which particular fish you are talking about.

Yes, many african females can have egg spots. It really does depend on the species, as som are more prone to do that than others.

I've had Electric Yellows and Saulosi females with egg spots before... They held and released fry so they were definitely female.
And they were really good quality fish, not poor in-bred ones. |
