There are a few versions of games around which can
use and play. (what fish am i, pic ID, who do i live
with) "details of each 1 and others below, feel
free to add your own ideas as well"
Basic rules/tips: (most repeated below in detail)
1. question/guess per turn
2. need's another person to ask a Q before can ask again, ie to get more people involved.
3. If you win it's your turn (unless wish to handball to someone else)
3. keep it freindly, and not 'too' hard, we're not all experts and it's more enjoyable if all can play rather than just 1-2 who know the fish. (ie try make it a fish found reasonably common at LFS)
4. try to mix up the fish/games etc, don't want a pile of games guessin what cichlid it is, there are plenty of other fish to choose from.
5. Be fair, don't ask off the forum (eg in chat), ruins the game for other members trying to follow/enjoy.
Details rules for the various games, and other possible options:
What Fish Am I..?
The 1st was initally started by a long time member Pegusus NZ
Here is a game that has run none stop for over eighteen months on my 'other' favourite forum.
Hope you will give it a try.
Rules Of The Game.
Only one game running at a time.
Must be a freshwater fish in general circulation and details must be able to be found in the available books.
The poster starts the new thread and heads it (Game 1) and gives the first clue or clues, which can be the region the fish is found in, or perhaps the maximum size, but preferably not the type, but can be any clue they want to give, but don't give the game away.
Players get 20 tries to guess the type of fish by either the Latin or common name, but are only allowed to ask one question at a time and are only allowed one turn at a time, but may try again as soon as someone else has taken a guess.
Example:
(Poster) I am from the Amazon region... (First Clue)
(Player1) Are you a Tetra ?
(Player2) How big do you grow ?
(Player3) Are you a Cichlid ?...... (Could be player one, as someone has taken a turn)
(Poster) Not a Tetra, to 10cm, no.. I'm not a Cichlid... 17 to go....(Poster gives amount of guesses left... 17 left)
(Player) Are you a Catfish ?..... (Could be player one or two or a new player)
(Poster) Yes, I'm a Catfish (16 left)
(Player) Are you a .... etc etc...
And so on. The poster doesn't 'have' to answer each question in turn, but can answer bulk lots, but preferably as soon as conveniant.
The poster may offer additional clues if the players are finding things tough.
After 20 guesses the poster can then post a bit of useful info on the fish if they wish, perhaps with a reasonable sized pic... (About 50mmx50mm)
The one that guesses correctly starts a new thread with (Game 2) , or if not correct after 20 guesses then the poster can go again or nominate someone to take their place.
All players that win should start the new thread with the NEXT Game Number so that we can keep track of which game is in progress.
Try it... it's fun, and a good way to get you hitting the books and learning about your fish.
So who wants to start it off ?

Just though would do an overview of the rules for the picture game as working it out. (Which Mick aka Safeway trolley started)
So far rules are as follows:
Turn bases same as previous game (ie has to be at least 1 other players guess between your turns)
Responce layout:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
with guesses beside each 1 or ? if unknown (counts as 1 guess)
For those who posted image responce like 3/5 (ie 3 out of the 5 guesses correct) as apposed to saying which ones are correct (just to add to the challange)
No editing posts once they have been answered, ie if host has said 4/5, can't go back and edit post, have to wait for next turn.
1 example of a Pic ID game: (from previous run game)

With correct answer for above example being:
1. rummy nose tetra
2. princess cichlid
3. sailfin molly
4. pictus catfish
5. moss green barb (tiger barb)
Also for those who aren't skilled with merging images etc can always use old game, this is just an alternative to add some variety. (if can think of others, state rules and give it a go)

Who do i live with?
Just thinking of a few other options for games and come up with these (might be bit basic for some of us, but would be good for beginners)
Match fishes home:
eg.
Discus
Convict cichlid
Neon Tetra
Checkered rainbow
red zebra
Then from this have to work out where these fish are found eg amazon river.
Find mates:
eg.
discus, julidochromis, molly, cory, guppy, tropheus
Then just pair up which fish go together in a tank. (or from same habitats/locations)
These are just ideas, and would guess more 'beginner' style, but just another option.
---------------------------------------------
Anyhow enough talk lets get playing, feel free to add any sudjestions for other possible games.
