It would be wonderful if the industry could put out fish care sheets covering the different major species of fish. It would certainly help hobbyists in caring
for fish that they acquire. I would be even willing to help with writing a few care sheets.
There are a number of Australian care sheets around where errors in the sheets make me shudder - for example:
- Aphysemion killifish are largely annual fish (oh, yeah)
- Bettas should be kept at temperatures above 18C (guess they would survive at such temperatures)
etc etc
It would be wonderful seeing care sheets developed properly for Australian hobbyists. People are blamed for their fish-keeping practices but when information such as the above is provided, who can really blame the hobbyist.
I have several times emailed the source of the care sheets but no response. And no, I will not name who produced such sheets but it should not be too difficult to find the source if you care to look on the internet. And perhaps email them also pointing out several issues.
