We are not the only ones suffering the effects of this heat wave. Our fish are suffering too. Coldwater fish will start to suffer in temperatures over 26
degrees C and tropical fish at 28-30 degrees C. Some suffer more than others as, not only the water heats up, but it starts holding less oxygen. Fish may
gasp at the surface or sit on the bottom. Other stress symptoms may include fungal and bacterial infections. In order to bring down water temperature and
increase oxygenation levels...

all depends on how much sun it gets, how much water is in there, how much shade there is. Keep a thermometer handy, and maybe a rotating fan. If you angle the
fan so the air blows across the top of the water, then evaporation keeps the water a little cooler. You do have to keep topping up the bath though.

Thanks for the tips. I like your tip where you float the frozen bottle to help it cool. Last week during the 3-4 days heatwave my BN tank hit 33C and I did not
know what to do but hope for the best. Thankfully it all survived.

I cut my holiday short and came home (at extra expense as I couldn't change my original flight) but was too late to save the above fish.

It was very distressing to lose so many fish in such a horrible way, especially...

yep, I always have 2l cordial bottles 3/4 full of tank water in my freezer from November to April. Just remember to clearly mark the bottle. I used to use ice
cube trays full of fish tank water. I never used to mark them until my parents came to visit while I wasn't home. When I got home, they had used the fish

I like watching the fish hanging out under the ice blocks. You can...
