Gday... ive finally bitten the bullet... the heaters were costing me too much for my discus so ive got a blank 3x18x18 n i was just wondering if any1 could give me some ideas on some cool maybe slightly different than gold fish to put into my tank? and also the best LFS to buy these sorts of fish from im located in croydon but dont mind a little bit of a drive?

Goldfish Eggs

This forum has been so bereft of anything of late, i thought i'd announce that I have yet another batch of fertilised eggs from my goldfish.

Clean water, ph around 7, variety of foods, 4 foot standard tank - bare but for some driftwood and a bit of spawning moss - water is warm because my pleco is in with the goldfish.

once the eggs are laid, i take the moss to which they have attached out and put it into a smaller tank - goldfish will eat their eggs - I wait a few...

Goldfish Bowls - opinions please

what are peoples opinions on keeping goldfish in bowls. I mean large bowls, not the tinyones you can find. i had a goldfish in a decent sized bowl for years when i was a kid and it seemed fine. Opinions please

Need help on my gold fish tank

I have 4 Fantail and 2 telescopice and avail tail there are all fine. The fishes are all happy and well settled in my 3ft tank. I need your advice on cleaning the tank. The 3/14/14 tank is setup and running from the past 16 months. i been doing about 20 % water change once in 2-3 weeks, my questions are

1. Should i take gravel out do a clean or should i just continue with cleaning as normal
2. I bough this tank second hand about 2 years ago and guy who sold me told me the tank...

I am selling my private collection of fancy goldfish, I have grown this collection over a 5 year period. There are 12 A, AA grade fish available. They have spent the last 12 months in a large pond. Fish are large and size range is from 13cm - 18cm. Included are ranchus, orandas, ryukins and dragoneyes.

hi guys, what is teh cheapest/economical way of setting up a big pond for some goldfish in teh backyard. The ponds at the pet shops seem bit pricey. However, i'm not keen on the idea of digging and lining it with plastic.

I'm new to fishkeeping so please answer as if for a newbie

I have 3 small fantail goldfish in a 100l tank with 12 white cloud minnows at the moment. The tank is nearly cycled (at least I hope it is), with ammonia = 0ppm though nitrite still elevated at 2ppm.

I'm considering adding a siamese algae eater to the mix, as I'm getting algae in the tank. Are they compatible with goldfish?...

Can someone help me out? I'm after a couple of ranchus (the same ones pictured with face almost like it's fake) and the telescopic pandas for my tank. I have been to a few aquariums around my place in the south-eastern surburbs but they don't stock those pandas. The ranchus they have there are either all red or not the same ones as what i wanted.

If I grew trout in my 4ft x 2 x 2 tank, fed it food fit for human consumption, and cleaned the tank regularly. could I eat the fish and not die of some disease?
I suppose it is a coldwater fish so it is less likely that I would catch some sort of tropical disease etc.

Im keen on doing this I like smoked trout and am in the process of building a new barbecue.

Well I've treated white spot on my cichlids before but am not quite sure how to deal with it in my coldwater fish.

I recently purchased a catfish to go into my classroom tank and I think it is has white spot. The aquarium also has 2 goldfish and a siamese fighter in it and I want to try to get rid of the disease before it infects them too. My problem is that I am not sure how to treat white spot in coldwater fish....

I've recently established an outdoor pond using an old 8-person spa shell we scavenged from around the place. We blocked up all the air pipes etc and it's set into the mounds of earth we've used to landscape the garden, so that effectively, it's flush with the surrounding ground level. I've made a weldmesh "gazebo"/cage (with padlocked gate)...

I have a 2 ft tank with 2 goldfish...One nymph and one Im not sure of..... The tank ahs been set of for several months and cycled

The fish are growing well, happy and eating, lively
BUT no matter what I do there water always has a green tinge to it and smells like flower water left in a vase.
I use a UGF with a power head. There is plenty of...

Hi guys, I was wondering what sort of diet other coldfish keepers provided for their fish and how they thought their fish were responding to the food.
I feed my goldies a fix of pellet foods, de-shelved green peas, boiled pumpkin, and duckweed. So it is about 70% vege based.
Occasionally they get brineshrimp too (but this is mostly when i'm trying to condition them for breeding).

Seeking design ideas for outdoor pond

Hi guys,

I'm planning a pond - rectangular 6m (long) x 70cm (wide) x 70cm (depth) which will run the length of my decking area. This will be constructed (above ground) using a timber frame, cement sheeting on the inside and then pond liner.

Ideally I'd like the pond to be multi-function. Ie first and foremost it's a display pond which is a part of my decking/pergola - so has to look good.
